Pedro Trevizan Bau
Pedro Trevizan Bau is originally from Brazil, and currently based in Gainesville, Florida, where he lives with his wife, Flavia Medeiros Gomes, and their wonderful twins, Eloise and Leone. Their daughter, Eloise, was diagnosed with DLG4 SHINE Syndrome in 2026, when she was 20 months old.
Her genetic test result brought clarity to Eloise’s challenges, which include low muscle tone, global developmental delays, and sensory processing issues. Besides that, she loves playing in the water, going to the playground, riding her bicycle, and eating fruits. Eloise is always chasing her twin brother and loves to make him laugh while they are playing together.
As soon as Eloise was diagnosed, Pedro and Flavia, who both hold PhD in Neuroscience, began researching ways to support the community in finding a treatment for DLG4 SHINE Syndrome. With nearly 15 years of experience in biological research, Pedro joined the board to bring his scientific knowledge and expertise to help advance research & therapies, support families, and raise awareness for the DLG4 SHINE community.
